Not enough money to cover on Campus Housing. No cosigner available.?

A friend of mine is having trouble paying for school. She needs to live on campus her home life isn't great. So she would have to live on campus. The most she received from federal was 10,000 but that would cover tuition with a little left over but not cover the cost of housing. SHe has applied for every private loan available only to get denied because she has absolutely no credit and a part time job.

She received several scholarships but they are NOT good until next fall. I thought I could sneak and let her stay in my room but I learned I could get into a lot of trouble. Do you think its feasible for her to pay a housing deposit get a room assignment and just stay and owe the school and work to pay it back b4 the Fall . Or will they kick her out? Because of her job income, and lack of credit she can't get a place of her own.

How does the %26quot;housing%26quot; thing work in most colleges.

I suggest your friend visit the Contact the the Housing office. Be persistant! Keep asking who to talk to next %26amp; what options are available to her, etc.

Has she gone to talk to the school's financial aid department and/or housing yet? Even if they can't adjust her loans, they may be able to point her toward some off-campus listings in her price range.
